ROCKY MOUNT, Va. (WSLS 10) – Police have charged a Rocky Mount woman after a baby was found dead in a dumpster.
“After consultation with the Franklin County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office, our agency has charged and arrested Katherine N. Dellis, age 24, of 140 Ann Sink Street, Rocky Mount, with unlawful concealment of human remains, a class 6 felony, ” Chief Ken Criner said.

Preliminary autopsy results show the infant was a stillborn, said Criner in a news release.
The baby’s body was found on Wednesday morning inside a dumpster in Franklin County.
Carilion Police notified Rocky Mount Police of a suspicious admission Tuesday evening at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. A patient had been admitted with bleeding consistent with recently giving birth.
